We're Hiring: Duty Manager Big Depot Climbing

 

We are looking for a new Duty Manager to work alongside our super team at The Big Depot Climbing Centre, Leeds.

Hours:

Full time - 30-40hr/week

Essential:

  • Previous experience in shift management,
  • CWI qualification or higher,
  • valid first aid
  • excellent customer service experience.

Desirable:

  • NICAS experience,
  • food hygiene and food prep/serving experience.

Role specific responsibilities:

  • Ensuring all staff are performing to the best of their ability and to the standard expected of The Depot.
  • Allocating jobs for staff depending on what needs to be done that day.
  • Ensuring all tasks are completed on time and to the highest possible standard.

Jobs will include but not be exclusive to the following;

Assisting with the running and management retail activities;

  • Checking transactions in the shop against online stock
  • Processing web sales
  • Inputting new stock into Rock Gym Pro
  • Transferring stock between centres

Assisting in the management of instructed sessions including

  • Ensuring instructors are performing to the best of their ability and following Depot guidance
  • Assisting in the development of other instructed sessions
  • Ensuring all sessions are staffed correctly for the number of participants
  • Tracking of bookings from initial booking through to payment. This includes liaising with groups.

General wall management

  • Acting as lead first aider and fire marshal whilst on duty
  • Stocktaking and ordering of café stock
  • Conducting the daily and weekly checks using Papertrail
  • Providing staff training to other centre staff when asked by the centre manager
  • To assist the centre manager with other tasks that are assigned.

Operational responsibilities:

  • Manage the opening and preparation of the facility at the beginning of the day
  • Ensuring that the facility is clean and that all facilities are always ready for the customer;
  • All bathrooms are stocked and clean
  • Surfaces and floors clean
  • Coffee machine clean
  • All waste disposed off
  • Matting hoovered
  • Thoroughly complete the opening checks and report any issues directly to the centre manager
  • Stock the cafe within the day to ensure that all products are available for customers (including soft drinks, cakes etc.)
  • Manning the reception effectively so that all customer requests are fulfilled and that sales opportunities are maximised. This includes managing the reception staff and the roles they are required to fill.
  • Providing drinks/food for customers
  • Managing the front of reception to keep the queue as small as possible
  • Making bookings accurately and arranging cover where needed
  • Providing correct and timely information for customers
  • Ensuring shop is tidy and providing help where needed
  • Recording shop sales and checking stock against the website
  • Managing the new customers to ensure
  • Correct waiver is completed accurately
  • Waiver signed off and checked thoroughly
  • All customers have introduction conversation
  • Floor walking to ensure that
  • No water bottles/karabiners etc. on the matting
  • Providing information on climbs/techniques etc. to customers
  • Checking no unsupervised children
  • Conditions of use are always being abided to by all customers
  • Helping with incident management;
  • Escalating any customer complaint
  • Managing any first aid incidents
  • Managing any fire incident
  • Within day emergency wall fixes, spinners etc. and these are correctly recorded in the ‘Near Miss Book’
  • Assisting customers in the shop
  • Ensuring all customers are asked if they require any help
  • Offer help if needed
  • Do not leave a customer you are assisting until they are happy
  • Keep shop clean, tidy and stocked always
  • Report and shop or stock issues
  • At the end of day;
  • Help preparing the building for closing time (emptying bins, cleaning coffee machine, filling dishwasher, cleaning surfaces, turning off heaters etc).
  • Cashing up.
